Amazon Studios and Roadside Attractions are partnering to distribute Doug Liman’s psychological thriller The Wall for release March 10. That puts it on the same date as Warner Bros’ Kong: Skull Island.
The deal on The Wall follows RSA’s and Amazon’s collaboration on several previous releases, including that of Manchester By The Sea, which just garnered top praise from the National Board of Review. The Wall, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nocturnal Animals) and John Cena (Trainwreck), follows two soldiers pinned down by an Iraqi sniper, with nothing but a crumbling wall between them. Their fight becomes as much a battle of will and wits as it is of lethally accurate marksmanship.
Written by first-time screenwriter Dwain Worrell, the film was produced by Amazon Studios, Big Indie Pictures and Picrow and by David Bartis. The exec producer is Ray Angelic and the associate producer is Alison Winter. FilmNation is handling international sales.
Roadside and Amazon previously partnered together on other films including Whit Stillman’s Love & Friendship and Spike Lee’s Chi-Raq.
Manchester By The Sea was just given the honors of Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Original Screenplay and Best Breakthrough Performance by the National Board of Review. Star Casey Affleck also was named Best Actor at the Gotham Awards last night. Additionally, the film was nominated for five Spirit Awards including Best Feature.
